Other charity activities in 2017 were also focused on providing aid to children and were performed in cooperation with NGOs. In total, they received a sum amounting to PLN 1,506 thousand in donations from the Budimex Group. Since 2015, there has also been the programme “Grant na Wolontariat” [“Grant for Voluntary Service”] within which Budimex personnel may suggest their own voluntary service initiatives. They are discussed during quarterly CSR Committee meetings when decisions on grants made. Thus far, Budimex volunteers have carried out altogether 18 projects. In 2017, we carried out voluntary service projects also in cooperation with CEMEX Polska.
Also, Budimex is cooperating with higher education institutions and backing students in technical subjects. In 2017, the 8th edition of the Budimex Academy took place, attended by the students of residential building, road building, bridge building, rail building, hydro-engineering, environmental engineering. As part of the Academy, the students have an opportunity to meet experts, experienced in work at construction sites, learn state-of-the-art technologies and innovative solutions used in civil, transportation engineering and in power industry. By the way, it is a chance to listen about job opportunities offered by the Budimex Group. During of the last year’s edition, we visited the Technological Universities in Warsaw, Lublin, Gdańsk, Białystok, Poznań, Kraków, Śląsk and Wrocław. Other student projects carried out by Budimex also include Program Praktyk Letnich [Summer Apprenticeship Programme] and Program Stażowy [Graduate Programme].
Besides the social programmes mentioned, Budimex engages in charity or sponsorship activities, concentrating above all on providing aid to children and cooperating with non-governmental organisations. In 2017, in cooperation with the Krakow Technology Park (KPT), we launched the 2nd edition of KTP ScaleUp – a programme aimed at supporting start-ups working on innovations for industry and smart city. Launching the project resulted from a constant need to modernise the construction operations, for product and technological innovations in our industry. The project is aiming at supporting young entrepreneurs in their work on new concepts, and those who will enrol for the project will have an opportunity to fight for having their ideas put into practice. The programme will end in February 2018.
