We realise that as a company carrying out a contract in a particular time, we turn up in a given community and stay for no more than a few or a dozen or so months, and our presence means changes which are of considerable significance for everyday life order of the local residents. Therefore, wherever we carry out our contract, we undertake social activities which will facilitate to remember Budimex as a good neighbour. The directions of responsibility towards society and the environment are established in the Budimex Social Responsibility Strategy for 2016 to 2020 and in the Company Responsibility Policy which applies to all of the companies within the Ferrovial Group and its employees. According to the gauges laid down in the CSR Strategy, we report the results of social and environmental impacts.
Our participation in social consultation, preceding a decision on the final form of a given project, depends on whether we are only a general contractor or an investor as well. If only a contractor, we do not engage in the stage of consultation preceding the detailed design stage, whereas we always engage in an open dialogue with all the key parties to a project, especially with the local community (sensitive stakeholder group) and environmental experts. In 2017, one of the key objectives achieved within the social sphere was Budimex’s social involvement for at least 40% of local communities in the immediate vicinity of which the company’s projects are carried out.
