6.7.9		 8 12 Due to the specificity of construction projects, their implementation is accompanied by very detailed construction documents from the earliest stage. The requirements are specified by regulations and standards. These documents include not only the relevant consents, permits or confirmations of acceptance by different offices and departments. Individual raw materials and materials are accompanied by certificates and declarations of conformity, safety marks, or hygiene certificates. This ensures widely understood safety for people and the environment. Rules related to approving construction product for marketing are regulated by applicable laws. Apart from the Act of 7 July 1994, i.e. Construction Law, the legal basis for the above is formed by two subsequent laws: the Act of 16 April 2004 on construction products and the Act of 30 August 2002 on the conformance assessment system. Thus their application is obligatory and includes all (100%) contracts. They are also supported by the Integrated Management System, which guarantees usage of correct construction products and materials.

There is no doubt that the construction sector significantly affects the environment: volume projects increase the living comfort of the inhabitants, while investments in infrastructure influence, i.a. the economic development and modernisation of the country. For example, ring roads reduce the burden on cities, which are lately facing growing traffic levels and therefore increased air pollution and smog. On the other hand, construction investments involve modifying the natural environment. Budimex takes both aspects into account to choose optimal construction designs. The service package includes buildings for the purpose of industry, housing, cultural and public utility, located within and outside city limits, as well as roads, motorways, railway infrastructure, airports, hydro-engineering and waste facilities. Multiple commercial investments were completed or initiated due to the activity of the Group in 2017, involving important contracts, such as:

  • road investments, including expressways and ring roads: design and construction of the S61 Ostrów Mazowiecka – Szczuczyn road, section: Stawiski junction (excluding the junction) – the start of the Szczuczyn ring road; starting construction of Brzozów ring road as part of the S3 road and adaptation of national road no. 3 to meet expressway parameters along Brzozowo-Miękowo section within the framework of the task: S3 road construction within Miękowo section – finishing Brzozów ring road construction including the expansion of Miękowo-Rzęśnica section;
  • railway investments: performance of works on railway line no 7 Warsaw East Station – Dorohusk along Warsaw – Otwock-Dęblin – Lublin section, Otwock – Lublin section (almost 150 km in total); Modernisation of Trzebinia – Krzeszowice section;
  • power engineering: construction of a gas power unit of 55 MW of electrical capacity. Stage 2. Construction of a steam turboset with auxiliary installations in ZW Kraków;
  • other: construction of the Lidl Mińsk Mazowiecki Distribution Centre; Finalising the construction of the Racibórz Dolny dry flood protection reservoir.
